Alcohol found, officer not tested after wreck

According to a report released Monday, a New Roads police captain was not tested for alcohol in his system after wrecking his personal vehicle Friday night, even though officers on the scene said they smelled alcohol on his breath and found a partially-empty bottle of gin in his vehicle. Captain Mark Munson was placed on administrative leave Monday morning, according to New Roads Police Chief Kevin McDonald. The report from the Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff's Office said Munson was not tested after his wreck because nobody on shift at the time was DWI certified.
