  1. Here are the 9 stories of police misconduct tracked for Wednesday, August 29, 2012:
    • Montgomery, Alabama: A police officer [Milton Strother, 25] is accused of stealing funds confiscated in a narcotics arrest, according to the release from the Police Department. A statement from the Montgomery Police Department says they launched an investigation after realizing cash seized in a narcotics case last year had not been returned as ordered by a judge.
    • Boulder, Colorado: A former Boulder County deputy [Rick Jon Ferguson] pleaded guilty to felony Internet sexual exploitation of a child. He was accused of using his sheriff’s office-issued computer to carry on sexually explicit online chats with girls as young as 11.
    • Hatboro, PA: A former detective [John Becker, 43] has pleaded guilty to charges he convinced informants to buy him drugs under the guise of an “undercover drug investigation.” John Becker pleaded guilty to charges of theft by unlawful taking or disposition, possession of a controlled substance and official oppression in connection with incidents that occurred.
    • Rockford, MI: A police officer [Christian Zieminski, 33] has been charged with sex crimes against a prisoner. “It is alleged that Zieminski engaged in inappropriate sexual contact using force or coercion with a female prisoner who was in his custody at the time,” Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office spokeswoman Maria Miller said in a release.
    • Update: Sacramento, California: A deputy pleaded [Thomas Lu] guilty to dealing firearms without a license. He also agreed to cooperate with the government in investigating and prosecuting other gun traffickers, and is now free without bond. [also indicted: Roseville, California, Police Officer Christopher Kjellberg;Sacramento County, California; Sheriff's Deputy Ryan McGowan; and civilians Robert Snellings Jr, Ulysses Simpson Grant Early IV]
    • Charleston, South Carolina: Officials sat that Sheriff Al Cannon was arrested on Tuesday on charges of third-degree assault and battery. He allegedly slapped a handcuffed suspect [Timothy McManus] after a high-speed chase.
    • Chalfont, Pennsylvania: A police officer [Jon Cousin, 30] was not shot by a group of assailants as he claimed, but instead staged the shooting himself, according to authorities. Jon Cousin was lying when he said he was shot in the chest while investigating a suspicious vehicle. He was arrested and charged with misdemeanor counts of making false alarms to agencies of public safety, making false reports to law enforcement, disorderly conduct, official oppression, possession of an instrument of crime and recklessly endangering another person.
    • Update: Fresno, California: A police officer [William Wyatt, 34] was arrested on suspicion of rape, the County Sheriff’s Office said. He was arrested after a months-long investigation into allegations that he raped a former Reedley police officer when she was incapacitated.
    • New Brunswick, New Jersey: Two Rutgers University students [Jake Kostman, Kareem Najjar] who say police [Detectives Miguel Chang, Drew Weiss, Robert Bogdanski, Seargent Scott Gould, and Officer Keith Walcott; 15+ other officers not specifically named in suit] broke into their apartment, beat and handcuffed them and left them in a cold room in their underwear, have settled a federal lawsuit over the incident, a city spokesman said.
