    Ex-MCSO deputy arrested for having 'dangerous drugs'

    Phoenix police and the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office peacefully ended a standoff with a former sheriff's deputy early Monday morning. The former deputy, Ramon "Charley" Armendariz, 40, had barricaded himself into his residence near 31st Avenue and Thunderbird Road in Phoenix on Sunday evening, but eventually walked out of his home just after 1 a.m. and was taken into custody and to a psychiatric unit for evaluation, said Phoenix Police Officer James Holmes.
