JAY, Okla. (AP) - Authorities say a Fairland police chief who allegedly pawned two police guns and passed counterfeit money has surrendered to authorities.
Delaware County prosecutors have charged William "Billy" Ray Moore with two counts of false declaration of ownership in pawn. Detective Ron Teel says Moore, who turned himself in on Friday, was released on $5,000 bail.
Moore allegedly pawned a Beretta .40-caliber pistol and a Glock .40-caliber pistol that were issued to him while he was a part-time Commerce police officer and Fairland's police chief.
A Vinita police report says Moore was seen on a videotape buying a pre-paid credit card with four counterfeit $100 bills while wearing his Fairland police uniform. The counterfeit bills were kept at the Fairland Police Department.
The fake bills were turned over to the U.S. Secret Service.
