Deputy Daniel David Kahlow, of Le Sueur, Minn., was jailed after being charged with removing evidence and second-degree drug possession of 6 grams or more of methamphetamine. He was arrested Sunday after he came to work on a day off. A search by the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension turned up three evidence bags in his pants, with a total of 23.4 grams of suspected meth. A glass pipe also was found in a pocket.

Earlier that day, Deputy Daniel David Kahlow, 47, was charged in Carver County Court with second-degree possession of methamphetamine. According to the criminal complaint against him, Kahlow admitted taking methamphetamine from the evidence vault at the Carver County Sheriff’s Office. He also told agents with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension that he had been smoking meth for about one year, according to the complaint.
