Quaale, wanting to avoid trouble, asked Bernardson to leave as Wraspir taunted him. Bernardson allegedly told him, using an expletive: "I'll remember you." Quaale and her boyfriend told police they later saw Bernardson, now clad all in black, in the parking lot near his vehicle, and there appeared to be a woman in the driver's seat. Shortly after that, a taxi driver reported to police that Wraspir was getting into his cab at 11:25 p.m. when a man in black punched him four or five times in the face, knocking him out and bloodying his nose. The driver said he tried to overpower the attacker, but the man easily broke away, leading the driver to believe he might have had training.
